Care Guide
Caring for Your Joryel Vera Jewelry

Every Joryel Vera piece is made to be worn every day. Sterling silver and natural stones only ask for a little attention — most pieces that look tired simply need a clean. Here is how to keep yours the way it left our studio.
- Put jewelry on last, after lotion, perfume and hairspray
- Take it off before swimming, cleaning or exercise
- Store each piece on its own, in its pouch
- Wipe silver with a polishing cloth after wearing
Everyday care
Every Joryel Vera piece is 925 sterling silver — an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals. Protect it from makeup, perfume, and hairspray. Over time, lotions, powders, soaps, and the natural oils on your skin will make both metal and stones look dull.
Put jewelry on last, after hair products and fragrance. Take it off before anything strenuous. Store each piece separately in its pouch so pieces do not scratch each other.
Have your jewelry professionally cleaned about once a year.
Sterling silver
Silver tarnishes around everyday things that contain sulfur — leather, rubber, chlorine — as well as air pollution and salt water. You cannot avoid all of it, so wipe your silver with a polishing cloth as a matter of routine.
Wearing it regularly actually helps: the friction of daily wear slows tarnish down. We recommend wearing your Joryel Vera jewelry every day. Store it in its pouch when you are not, and clean it whenever it starts to look flat.
For heavier tarnish, wash with warm water and mild soap using a clean lint-free cotton or flannel cloth, a sterling silver cloth, or a very soft brush. We do not recommend silver polish or dip-style cleaning solutions. For anything beyond that, an authorized jeweler can bring the piece back to its original condition.
Gemstones
Some stones are more fragile than others by nature. Keep them away from chemicals such as chlorine, from extreme heat, and from direct light — any of which can cause fractures, breakage, or discoloration. Salt water too.
Every gemstone can chip, scratch, or abrade under the right circumstances, diamonds included. Take rings and bracelets off before manual work, housework, or anything that risks a sharp blow. Never pull a ring off by the stone — that is how prongs and bezels get damaged and stones come loose.
To clean: mix dishwashing soap or shampoo into hot water and let the piece soak for a few hours or overnight. Rinse, then polish with a soft cotton cloth. No hard rubbing, no chemicals.
Pearls
Pearls need more care than anything else in the collection. Keep them away from perfume, cosmetics, perspiration, chlorine, vinegar, ammonia, and dirt. Put them on last and take them off before exercising.
After wearing, wipe them gently with a slightly damp cloth. Every so often, wash them with mild soap — not detergent — and a soft cloth, rinse in clean water, and wrap them in a thin damp cotton towel to dry.
Store pearls apart from your other jewelry so they do not get scratched, but never in an airtight bag. Pearls need some moisture; a dry environment will crack them.
Repairs
We repair any piece of Joryel Vera jewelry. Work done by an unauthorized jeweler counts as damage and may add to the cost. Call 561-508-2945 before sending anything back.
